Postpartum Recovery (Cesarean)

Hello SmartParent Family… so happy I came across this resource. Hopefuly someone here is/was having a similar experience to mine…

I am currently 3 months Postpartum with a Cesarean birth. As of 2ish months postpartum I began having terrible stomach pains.. along with back flank pains on both sides. Recently I noticed my midsection looks higher and higher and the pain is present 90% of the time.

I visited my family doctor. He ran tests (blood/us) and cannot figure out why. I also visited Brampton Civic Hospital Emergency Unit one night lastweek since the pain was so terrible. They ran blood and ultrasound tests and reported they are unsure why I am getting the pains since my results look normal except for elevated liver enzymes that indicates fatty liver and some tiny gallbladder stones but this should not be the reason I am am getting the pains described.

I’m so worried because the pain are getting more and more intense as the days go by. Sometimes its a challenge to hold my baby and I dont know what to do to help myself.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Given that your ultrasounds and bloodwork looked mostly normal, the gallbladder finding may still deserve a closer look — sometimes tiny stones or sludge cause symptoms that standard imaging misses, and postpartum hormonal shifts can affect gallbladder function. The rising midsection and constant flank pain are worth describing in detail to a GI specialist rather than relying on emergency visits alone. Ask your doctor specifically whether a HIDA scan or repeat imaging with a different protocol would be appropriate. Keep a simple log of when pain peaks and what you were doing, since patterns can help a specialist narrow it down.
